Protest upon the attack on journalist Mladen Stojovic

We protest against the brutal attack on the journalist Mladen Stojovic, who was attacked in his home in Bar, Montenegro and suffered immense bodily injuries.

Attack on yet another conciencius journalist all official representatives of Montenegro should perceive as an attack on the state that calls itself democratic and that has promised both to its citizens and the international community to ensure the rule of law and respect of human rights.

After uninvestigated attacks on the journalist Tufik Softic, writer Jevrem Brkovic, uninvestigated threats to the human rights activist Aleksandar Zekovic and doubtful murder investigation of the editor of daily Dan Dusko Jovanovic and the attack on director of daily Vijesti Zeljko Ivanovic, the attack on journalist Stojovic completes an image of society that does not provide for free expression to the end of fighting organized crime, coruption and human rights violations.

We expect from the competent investigating authorities to discover perpetrators of this and other attacks in the shortest period of time and contribute to respect of human rights and security of Mr. Stojovic and all Montenegrin citizens.

We expect the state prosecutor’s office to direct the investigation to the statements Mladen Stojovic has given in the Serbian TV B92 „Insider” series on framing of football games and mafia influence on this national sport.
