Human Rights Action submitted yesterday, on 10 December 2013, an urgency with repeated appeal of 21 November 2013 for providing adequate accommodation to six families living in Zvjerinjak in Nikšić, to the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Predrag Bošković, President of the Municipality of Nikšić, Mr. Grbović and Ms. Marković, Director of the Center for Social Work in Nikšić. These families, with two pregnant women and sixteen children, of which three are babies, are living in horrible conditions – wet cramped barracks where, due to lack of space and furniture, children sleep on the floor, and improvised bathrooms only have functioning toilet bowls.
Appeal that HRA submitted on 21 November 2013 is available (in Montenegrin) here.
Human Rights Action representatives held a meeting on 25 December with the Director of the Centre for Social Work in Nikšić, Radmila Marković, and representative of the Municipality of Nikšić, Tatjana Perović, on providing alternative accommodation for above mentioned families. After that, thanks to private donors who wished to remain anonymous, HRA representatives shared 20 New Year’s presents, milk and supplies for babies, as well as books, toys and clothes for children of six most vulnerable families in Zvjerinjak.
