Statement on the occassion of the latest threat to Slobodan Pejovic, war crime witness

Since May 1992, when he refused to participate in execution of the war crime against Muslim refugees in Montenegro, life of Slobodan Pejovic, witness in the criminal proceedings against perpetrators of this crime, had been seriously endangered three times, his property was damaged on two occassions and he received numerous verbal threats. No perpetrator of those acts was punished to date.

In such sircumstances, and especially regarding yesterday’s latest threat, when his car was damaged, the state should be considered responsible for the protection of life and physical integrity of Mr. Pejovic, as well as for the protection of his property.

We expect the competent authorities to undertake all necessary measures protecting life and property of Mr. Pejovic, starting from the measure of efficient identification and prosecution of those who ordered and executed the latest attack.
