8/1/2015 – REGARDING THE ATTACK ON CHARLIE HEBDO

Following the tragic attack on the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris, the Executive Director of NGO Human Rights Action (HRA) Tea Gorjanc-Prelevic sent letters to the magazine and French ambassador in Montenegro Ms. Veronique Breneaux expressing her personal and HRA’s deepest condolences regarding the attack and all related victims. Enclosed is the shared content of both letters also published by the Montenegrin media.

”HRA expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of last week’s massacre in the premises of Parisian weekly Charlie Hebdo. HRA shares the grief of French citizens and advocates of democracy and freedom of speech worldwide.

Creators of Charlie Hebdo have served in the most loyal and noble manner to the most humane aspect of human beings – the need to express themselves, to debate and not to worship idols, to seek the best ideas through dialogue in order to make the world a safer and more enjoyable place.

Last week’s tragedy reminds us that the only relevant distinction to be made between people is the one between those who use savagery and violence instead of arguments and those respecting the right to a different opinion and free exchange of ideas as one of the highest achievements of our civilization.

We can stand up to confront savagery by doing our best to promote the culture of respect for human rights of every human being and thus provide everyone with an opportunity to live their lives and realize their own potential.
