JUDICIAL COUNCIL POSTPONES THE GATHERING

The Judicial Council on March 17, 2020 published an invitation for participants in the selection process for candidates for judicial appointmentsto gather on March 18, at 12 p.m. at the premises of the Supreme Court of Montenegro. Following the HRA director’s email to the president of the Judicial Council and a phone call to the Secretariat of the Council enquiring why was the gathering scheduled against the Order of the Ministry of Health from March 13, the Judicial Council later that night notified the participantsthat the gathering had been postponed “due to new measures brought by National Coordinating Body for Infectious Diseases and Ministry of Health, which had been published on March, 17 at 18:35 h’’.

HRA welcomes the decision of the Judicial Council to postpone the gathering scheduled contrary to the Order of the Minister of Health, effective from March 13. However, it is not true that the new measures, adopted last night, were in any way related to the ban on gathering in closed public spaces. That ban has been in force for fifth days. The Council was obliged to postpone the gathering due to the “old measures” and inform the public about that. In this time of crisis, it is especially necessary for all public authorities to provide only true information to the public and thus deserve its trust.
