Human Rights Action (HRA) condemns stoning of TV Pink M building, which happened on 7th of September 2016, and was recorded on camera.
HRA reminds that this is third stoning of building of this television. Previous two were not punished, nor were the perpetrators identified. During the first stoning, which happened in October last year, journalist Ivana Drobnjak was injured. HRA notes that this is the fifth case of stoning of a media building in Montenegro since 2013.
Use of violence is neither legal nor acceptable way of expressing protest over media reporting. HRA urges the police and State Prosecutor’s Office to, in accordance with their duties, carry out an effective investigation and ensure punishment of all attacks. HRA reiterates the need to declare attacks on journalists and media property criminal offenses invoking stricter punishment.
